Lately, I’ve been exploring new ways to elevate my macaron decorating—and this week I finally pulled out my new airbrush for a little creative experiment.
It’s been years since I last used an airbrush (the last time was actually for makeup!), so this wasn’t about perfection. It was about getting familiar with the tool again, learning how to control the spray, and experimenting with food coloring viscosity to avoid overspray or smudging.
I used a few blank macaron shells as my canvas and tried out different stencil designs:
🦋 A delicate butterfly
🕊️ A birdcage with branches
🌸 A large floral pattern
🌸✨ And a sweet Sakura-inspired cherry blossom trail dancing across the top of one
It wasn’t for a client—just personal play and practice. Some designs turned out better than others, but it felt really good to create without pressure and let the process guide me. I’ve definitely got some ideas brewing now for future custom work!
I’ll be sharing more behind-the-scenes as I keep practicing and experimenting—so stay tuned for what’s next in the kitchen.
